The Jubilee Cup Final served up an exhilarating close to a unique and historic tournament celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Malta Football Association, as Valletta and Sliema Wanderers locked horns in a clash of tradition and ambition. From the opening whistle at the National Stadium in Ta’ Qali, both sides showed intent, with Sliema’s early pressure and long-range efforts testing Valletta’s composure in the opening minutes. Yet it was Valletta who struck first; Brazilian forward Yuri Messias weaving through the defence to fire home a precise low finish just before the half-hour mark and put the Citizens ahead in a moment that would define much of the final’s narrative. Valletta continued to assert themselves after the break, doubling their advantage through a well-taken penalty from Messias before skipper Brandon Paiber sealed the cup with a stunning free kick that soared into the top corner, lifting the Jubilee Cup amid roaring celebrations. Despite a late consolation goal from Sliema’s Fernando, the Blues’ effort came too late to derail Valletta’s commanding performance, culminating in a 3–1 victory that crowned a richly competitive tournament and provided a gallery of action-packed moments — from fierce challenges to moments of individual brilliance — perfect for capturing both drama and atmosphere on camera.
